Prayer Vigil

Prayer Vigil

We are so grateful you’ve decided to be a part of the Point Pleasant Pentecost Prayer Vigil 2020!  We believe this will be time well spent for all.

Below you will find a link to a video made by Leanna Schulz.  You can watch this video prior to your session of prayer as it serves as a good lead into prayer time.

Also below is a two-page document which can be used to help prompt your prayers.  There are ideas for community prayers, church specific prayers, personal prayers and Scripture verses to meditate upon.  Utilize these resources as little or as much as you’d like.

Prayer Vigil Guide

Since this our first “remote” Prayer Vigil, here are some tips to help set up your space for prayer:

Try to be in a space free from distraction.

Have needed supplies with you (i.e. bible, pen, paper, resources from this email, water to drink, etc.).

Watch the video from Leanna before you begin your prayer time, or have it available to watch at the beginning of your prayer time.

Silence electronic devices that may be nearby.

Some people like to light a candle as a symbol of the presence of God during their prayer time.

You may want music playing in the background.

Lastly, in addition to the video and attached resource documents to help guide your prayer time, you may want to meditate on the following Scripture passages during your prayer time:1.  Acts 2:1-21 — Pentecost2.  John 15:1-17 — Vine and BranchesAs you read these verses, savor them.  Put yourself in the various participants’ place, how would you be feeling?  What would you be thinking?  What would you see?  Hear?  How would that affect you?  Let the Holy Spirit bring revelation as you sit in the verses and pray through them.  (You may even want to write down your reflections as you do this.)
